Guard dogs – Not all Dobermans and German Shepherds

A good guard dog doesn’t have to big and strong, but it does help if they’re quite scary! The best guard dogs are those who are protective of their property, and are happy to be vocal when they think something’s up, even if that means the postman arriving at the door. A little Jack Russell can have quite a boisterous bark, and it’s more than enough to deter a burglar. We all know even small dogs can do some damage if they attack you, but that’s not what a guard dog should be for. They should be picked for their talents to spot any potential danger, and having a good bark will not only let a burglar know your home is not worth the risk, it’ll also give you a heads up when something isn‘t quite right. If you’re considering investing in a guard dog, don’t always go for the big one because you may not have to, not unless you need a visual deterrent.
